It’s nothing to get excited about. General Motors strikes deal to sell its Hummer brand

Bankrupt automaker General Motors said Tuesday it reached a tentative deal to sell Hummer, its military-styled off-road vehicle.

The company did not disclose the buyer’s name or the value of the deal. The sale is expected to close by the end of the third quarter.

In a release, GM /quotes/comstock/11i!gmgmq (GMGMQ 0.65, -0.10, -13.33%) said the deal should secure more than 3,000 manufacturing, engineering and dealership jobs in the U.S. Hummer will also continue to contract vehicle services from GM during a defined transitional time period.

The deal includes plans by the investor to aggressively fund future Hummer product programs, the automaker said.

The deal is still pending. This is a good thing and should upset people. No conspiracy, no secrecy and no socialism.
