I have absolutely no clue where the connection between candy-gram and a land shark comes from.

My “candy-gram” comes from an old web-toon made during the first Gulf War having a cruise missile knocking on the door of Saddam’s palace. When he asked “who is it?”, the missile answered “Candy-gram!” He opened the door and the thing blew up.
