Jamelle Bouie wrote a piece the other day that summarizes the problem we face - the Obama voter who voted for Trump. Understanding that is key to understanding why we are where we are, and understanding that is key to fighting it.

Not sure where we go from here, based on that. Republican overreach is likely. Remember in 2005, Bush was going to privatize Social Security. It was going to be his signature issue. The GOP held the House and Senate and the White House. Guess what DIDN’T happen?

Why? Because the Democrats got the word out. Yes, we exercised what legislative power we had, but shining the light on the idea made it unpopular.

We also still have to deal with the fact that a lot of Democrats just decided not to turn out.
