I’m not so sure. The more I learn I think it might have been necessary to let these guns move and provide irrefutable proof of where they end up. Even with the iron clad evidence the wingnuts are still trying to prevent any new laws about reporting straw purchases. If the investigation resulted in speculation about what might have happened to these guns the evidence might have been too weak to get any laws passed.
