One aspect of the killing of Mr. Jean that keeps bugging me is the differing reports on the state of the door to his apartment. The cop in her statement claims it was unlocked, and slightly ajar. Meanwhile, there are reported witnesses that say they heard her knocking, and demanding entrance.

This is seeming more and more like the Trayvon Martin shooting, where the shooter claimed things were “dark” and so they acted out of “fear,” but when you start putting the puzzle pieces together things don’t fit. Even without their testimony, the fact that her story went from “door locked, key wouldn’t fit” to “door was unlocked” and now “door unlocked, slightly ajar” in the space between the initial reports and the official affidavit shows a deliberate effort by the DPD to find a story that will work for a jury.
