Hitler was a sick man. Clearly stating the obvious here. It could be argued though that Rommel brought it upon himself. Blinding obedience only to be murdered at the hands of the man you followed. Nazi Germany was such a highly archaic system. It was almost like a 20th Century Roman empire of sorts. Primal. Vicious. Playing on human emotions, hatred, racism, bigotry, primitive, etc. The odd part is that it all happened in the mid-20th century and at first the 3rd Reich literally got positive “press reviews” and treated simply as an international oddity.

It was treated as a “success story” in the early years, as Hitler was getting people working again, the factories running, and putting Germany back on the map. Of course, like the Roman Empire, the Third Reich was only going to survive through war production and continued conquest. So much of the production was aimed at rebuilding the armed forces, rebuilding that the rest of the world was willing to turn a blind eye to due to the fact that Germany was becoming prosperous as a result.
