Sheesh! What does it take for people to do some very basic research, a few minutes’ worth would prevent this kind of gaffe. If might prevent, say, a nuclear war if the numbskull get elected to office.
I therefore present Shiplord Kirel’s sound bite primer on Korea:

-Peninsula in northeast Asia
-Independent kingdom until 1908, taken over by Imperial Japan (you know, Pearl Harbor, Bataan Death March, etc. but much later).
-Split between US and Soviet (really bad commie) occupation forces after WW2, Americans in south, commies in north.
-Occupiers leave, ca. 1946, leave separate governments in north and south: Tin-horn Stalin Kim Il Sung (Jong Il’s father) in north, western oriented Syngman Rhee in south. Rhee personally honest but ineffective, presides over incredible corruption.
-North Korea invades south in 1950, southern forces overwhelmed. UN and US intervene. North defeated, China (newly Red) intervenes to save Kim. Much unpleasantness, drawn-out negotiations.
Armistice 1953, war never formally ends.
-Intermittent tension and shooting incidents along Armistice line, right up to present day.
-South grows rich, North turns into giant Jonestown under Kim dynasty, people starve, but North gets nuke, extorts aid from south and western allies.
North and south both have huge military forces, 1 million+ in each army.
