He was against it before he pretended to be for it.
Everything Obama ends up doing or saying is cynically calculated to enhance his political fortunes.

That could apply to most politicians across the board.
However, I think he is listening to some counter-points to his earlier positions now that he has the mantle of responsibility to wear.
Of that, I’m thankful.
