For purely selfish reasons, I did not like the “Cash for Clunkers” thing at all. Now when I pull up to a house for a kitchen design appointment, I’m going to see a new car in the driveway thinking, “Hell yeah! They’re spending money!”

Only to find out that three weeks ago they owned a (like new) 1986 Mercury Marquis or Ford Fairmont.

Had I known that, I would have just gone on home, rather than spend three hours with cheapskates.

(Old Mercury Marquis and Ford Fairmonts are the kiss of death in the home improvement industry. People who drive those, don’t spend an effing dime. Ever. But, god, do they make appointments.)
