The German word for roof is Dach The word for construction is Bau, and conversion is an Ausbau
So I saw a truck parked outside for a company that did attic conversions, in German Dachausbau and thought “Didn’t they stop building Dachaus a long time ago?”
I though Dach meant “floor”—like in Dachshund=”floor-dog”.
