re: #466 looking closely

Not to get morally relativistic, but I don’t think cannibalism is “evil” per se.

It depends on the circumstances.

Murder, obviously, is evil.

But, if you’re already dead, and I’m otherwise likely to starve to death in some godforsaken place without food…well…I’d argue that the “evil” thing is to not do what I need to do to survive, so my kids can have a father, etc.

As to breeding people like racehorses, that’s the remark that (rightfully) got “Jimmy the Greek” in trouble. I definitely see the likelihood of abuse there, but such activity doesn’t HAVE to be “evil”.

Can’t professional athletes naturally fall in love and have really athletic children? If that happens, is it “wrong”?

What if its smart people having smarter kids? Etc.

The two universal taboo are incest (immediate family, anyway) and cannibalism (killing people just to eat them).

Some societies ritualistically eat their deceased defeated foes or elders in order to ingest the admired qualities, but that’s not the same thing as intentionally slaughtering human beings for their meat.
