Okay: Survey question.

A lawyer is suing the state because the social workers failed to check up on three tips that a girl was being abused. She was beaten and starved to death by her mother and stepfather. Dad lives out of state.

Should this happen? My chief thought here is who would get the money? I think that people should be fired, but I can’t think of anyone who deserves a monetary award here.

People fired, and more than that, an overhaul of the system to figure out how to avoid another such instance. I’m sure they have a stash for lawsuits, that won’t faze them, but being made to get their act together may.
