Yeah it was pretty bad. Mostly affected children. Used to be called Toms River Chemical. Then it became Ciba-Geigy. Guess they changed the name again or was bought out again. Greenpeace used to plug up their outfall pipe that went into the ocean. Treated waste. Allegedly.

And from a quick look at one of the Google references Union Carbide comes into the picture as well. They don’t teach enough about what sort of crap was going on before the EPA was created and the government started to seriously attempt to rein this stuff in.
