If I took all the money I’ve had taken from me for my good for SS, and invested in my own accounts I’d have a couple of million and by retirement enough to live very comfortably.

Wouldn’t that depend on the stock market just as the 401’s are, which were trashed when the market collapsed? And so, what do you tell someone who has lost everything and is about to retire? ‘Tough’?
