Sad to say, your sarcasm echoes the sentiments of many ignorant Americans. I have a few Canadian friends I’ve met in my online travels. Their general opinion of Americans is of mostly harmless, elitist snobs. They seem genuinely surprised when they meet an American who actually talks like they respect their country.

Lots of Canadians down here in Phoenix during the winter months. One of our neighbors are snowbirds from Alberta. They live here from Oct to April. Nice very nice people. They think most Americans are quite friendly, but also quite naive about many things.
