Which leads to my favorite misunderstanding, this by a five year old. We invited him to dinner, and when he asked his dad if he could come, he was told to ask whether he could bring anything. We said, “No, just bring your appetite.” He said, “We don’t have any apple-tites, can we just use plates?” I have no idea what he thought an apple-tite was, and neither does he at the age of 19 now.
