Out downtown about a year ago, we saw a fight break out on the street. I called 911 in that situation, as you do, but there was definitely a voice in the back of my head that questioned whether that was 100% the right course of action, since one of the participants was black.

Thankfully there was no excessive force used. (It’s really stupid, as a side note, to fight a block and a half away from the police station.)

Not so sure I agree. When I was in high school, I reached the end of my patience with some guys who were bullying me. I chose to make my stand near the front steps of a local clinic.
