Bad Craziness Dominates GOP

re: #473 keloyd

Getting back to the original subject of this thread, ‘bad craziness’ is the nature of the beast in politics today. When Democrats win big, the right throws tantrums and is generally out of line. When Republicans were getting their way year after year, the pollsters got (nearly) equally disturbing results, but for the left wing. I know I’m in the minority on this, but I still believe a better title is ‘bad craziness also’ or ‘our vs. their bad craziness’ or the ‘yin and yang of bad craziness’.

A smaller, but still pretty high % of Democrats thought W knew of the 9/11 attacks in advance.
There were only a little bit fewer truthers in recent years than birthers today.

I wish I didn’t have to say this, but my point is in no way intended as a defense of recent wingnuttery, but an attempt to give it context.

I’m a little skeptical of those #’s though. I was talking about this a few years ago to a very liberal friend and he made a good point (but not one I really agree with). He said he would answer yes to that question, but that would be misleading. He thinks they “knew” in the sense that they had good intelligence that was overlooked/ignored. But he certainly doesn’t think the Bush Administration consciously allowed it to happen. Basically, he’s calling them incompetent, not evil.

Anyway, I wish the question was “Do you think the Bush Administration was behind the 9/11 attacks?” or “Do you think the Bush Administration knowingly allowed the attacks to happen?” I think that would give you a more accurate picture of how many truthers are out there.
