Depending what convent and order they belong. My school had 2 orders.

St. Joseph - wore what they wanted. Lived a humble life alone.
Bleeding Heart of Jesus - wore the typical habit (blue and white) with a silver pin with a heart covered with a crown of thorns.

The Bleeding Heart of Jesus - there were 2 types of nuns I ran into in this order:
1. Nice, open, and helpful
2. Evil, spiteful, and wanted to inflict pain to cleanse the soul

I mostly have run into Jesuits and Franciscans, so I am spoiled by not personally dealing with the worst of monastics. Now parish priests OTOH…
