The clergy has no power under the US constitution beyond what every other person has. They have to power to decide who gets to follow what laws.

I’m not saying the government doesn’t have that power. I’m saying that it does have that power but when it comes to letting clergy legally marry people that government should not exercise its power in the manner CL suggests.
