That’s the scary part of the numbers here in California. The fixed benefit and “spiked” benefit pensions are hugely expensive. Only good market investing conditions could support them. Then we had the epic huge reversal. No one (no Dem, no Repub, no Gov.) ever contemplated having to pay them without the benefit of a good market for investing. Now look out. And Jerry Brown is not going to pull anything like Wis. He may get a Federal bailout, he may get after bankruptcy if it’s possible. In which case every one gets the screw job, not just certain unions.

That is doubtlessly a sad thing and it shows poor planning on the state’s side, but trying to blame the unions for such a situation is silly, don’t you agree?
