Well, I was at work at the Texas Dept. of Health office in Lubbock. The news started coming out — I assumed it was a small plane (I actually told people about the B-25 that crashed into the Empire State Building in 1945), but we eventually pulled out the TVs all over the building and all hunkered around them for an hour.

Our new director, a guy who didn’t like Lubbock and didn’t really understand human psychology, eventually told everyone watching TV wasn’t important to our jobs. I’m sure everyone else read news online for the rest of the day.
