I take the silver lining long view. Obama’s election created the environment to elicit release of the underlying racism that has been there all along. This is necessary to get to a post racial America, which may take another decade or generation.

I can agree with that. I knew we’d see an explosion of ugly, but even I didn’t think it would be this much or go on this long.
I tell myself the election of the first black POTUS means we’re lancing the boil of racism. All the poisons that lurk in the mud are hatching out.
