The goal posts also get more extreme because:

1. We know a lot more about how much more the situation is fucked up.

2. Solving earlier is easier than solving later, and views like yours make everything happen later. This is not a joke. It is like when the doctor says go on a diet and suffer through that or, have a heart attack and pay me then.

I do not doubt your sincerity and your science background certainly gives you the cred to talk about this stuff. But, the way you are describing it now, we are all screwed, so why worry? Have those kids now, the longer you wait, the older you’ll be.
