I agree with you entirely. I think the current pope is an honest and intelligent man, but I also think he’s a bit behind the times as far as public relations go. I don’t expect the charisma of the previous pope, but a recognition that clear public statements need to be made FAST would be good.

True, but I get a little nervous about having to react to the court of public opinion and the MSM at every turn. The Church has always been slow about things, which has its good and bad points.

In regards to this case though, I take the lead from Charles and a Biblical professor of mine in the seminary: when faced with overwhelming evidence, the intransigent person must be mocked publicly early and often. He, of course, was referring to the strictly literal understanding of the entire body of Sacred Scripture.
