This tweet brings up a word usage that I have never fully understood. Why do so many people tend to use the word think in place of thing? I see it very often. Is it an unconscious use and just happens or is it related to the phrase “you’ve got another thing/think coming” which many times is used both ways and may spill over into confusion of using both words interchangeably?
By the way…here is a fun link to a discussion of the phrase “you’ve got another thing/think coming” which is fun in its own way. I’ve always used ‘thing’ and not ‘think’ but never realized there has been discussion of both being correct. The link goes to a post (#289) by someone that put a lot of time into the whole question.
