Its not that, its that it makes no sense for them to supplement out crew. We’re completely crewed by civilians making civilian wages. I’m surprised the Unions that supposedly bargain for us (SIU for unlicensed, MEBA for licensed engineers, MMP for licensed mates) aren’t raising a stink about it.

They should be used to supplement Navy billets, not civilian billets. All they do is slow us down (they’re actually out there on the UNREP teams working the winches, etc…). Normally we run with a Navy complement of 2-4. One Navy Chief, then 1-3 enlisted OS’s (Operations Specialists), just to be phone talkers.
