The goal posts also get more extreme because:

1. We know a lot more about how much more the situation is fucked up.

2. Solving earlier is easier than solving later, and views like yours make everything happen later. This is not a joke. It is like when the doctor says go on a diet and suffer through that or, have a heart attack and pay me then.

The problem is that people like swamprat and I feel like we’re getting the squeeze put on us and the people applying said squeeze are lefties who want to squeeze harder. We don’t like that. Standards need to be set and compromises made, but them those compromises need to be adhered to. The left would need to not push for awhile after the deal is made. And do not trust the left to not push. And so there it is: I distrust most green efforts because I see them as products of a political left that I distrust to the point of loathing.
