Most vampire stories have to handwave around just how large an impact even a few vampires would have, even in a large urban setting. For example, Chicago, the city wingnuts LOVE to paint as some kind of mecca of death, had 468 murders last year. Let’s say there are maybe 100 vampires there, each feeding, let’s say once a week. That’s 5200 missing people a year, and 5200 bodies that either get found or need to be disposed of.
Someone would notice.
