Not just Teh Suck, it’s also stupid. I would trust pretty much any browser in the market over IE as far as security concerns go. I understand the concept of “approved” software and all, but seriously, Internet Exploder has a long and storied history of being the weakest link.

Actually, while past versions of IE have had (and earned) the weakest link rep, I’ve been fairly impressed with IE8.

In addition, there are some programs your company may be using that work best (or even only) with IE8.

Finally, by insisting everyone within the company use IE8 for work, the company knows that any web-based material will show consistently for everyone and doesn’t have to do the extra hours of ensuring multi-browser compatibility.
