Been reading Simon Sebag-Montefiore’s history of the Romanovs, and they were a bloodthirsty, decadent, power-hungry and inbred bunch from the very start. No wonder it took a violent and cathartic revolution to end their rule and it will take them more than a century to even start to recover from three centuries of Romanov rule.
