I’m finally getting away from the supermarkets myself. It takes a lot of scouting but I’ve found some independent butchers, fishmarkets and veg sellers close to me. All very good quality and very reasonably priced.

There’s a small grocery store near my house that sells nice, cheap local produce. Everything else is priced at hilarious yuppie prices, but the fruit and veg is cheap and good. (Also, the owner occasionally issues a newsletter with his grandma’s Italian recipes).
