Sure, but it should pick up the key FROM the existing OS. Lots of Win 7 laptops will have had their product keys rubbed off from use. I’ll be really surprised if it’s readable on my older Win 7 laptop.

Just found my Product Key on my Win8 laptop. It’s called a Product ID and can be found in the System info screen under Windows activation.
