Except that the Democrats also played politics by demanding a 2/3 vote because they were concerned that the GOP would tack items to the 9/11 bill if it was a basic majority vote.

It was politics all the way down - and even still the GOP looked worse for wear there.

I don’t see that as a good excuse for not voting for it.
