I think I need more info before deciding whether the veils are really an example of dhimmitude. If the policewomen are part of community outreach programs, I don’t really see too much wrong with being polite. There’s not much point in reaching out if you offend people just by walking in.

Yep - “we don’t respect your customs” seems like a poor idea of how to win trust/build bridges to me as well.
