Since St. Edward, King of England died in 979 the English throne has generally gone down hill. There have been a few brief highlights every 500 years or so, but generally the English royalty has been forgettable. Collecting charity and cutting ribbons is nice and commendable, but it will not rally a nation to greatness.

I hate to say this, but I’ve always considered the Royal Family to be a lot like thoroughbred racehorses; inbred and very strange as a result. They’ve had a pretty limited gene pool and that may be the problem.
