Humans need to get a little smarter about filtering all this information, though. The downside of liberating information is that kooks suddenly have a voice too, and if they’re obsessed enough they can become disproportionally influential despite being totally crazy.

The growth of trooferism scares me. On the internet delusions can be shared and an alternative world with it’s own population can be built based on them. Whereas in the past people with severe paranoid delusions merely lacked reality checks, today’s paranoiacs have the option of turning their life into one big sustained unreality check via this medium.
