Wingnut Fail of the Day: Obama Didn't Proclaim Easter (But Neither Has Any Other President)

The reality is that this year the President did NOT make a statement recognizing Easter, intentionally. Last year he did, and he was criticized in that he attempted to be inclusive to minority religions on Easter.
It seems to me that an African American man who was partially raised as a Muslim, may actually have some understanding and appreciation for how minorities experience life in so called secular societies dominated by Christianity. He goes out of his way to recognize minority religions, and goes out of his way to not push a state religion on others. Lets face reality. Christians don’t require the President recognize Easter in a statement. They see images of him at a prayer breakfast, they seem him at church, the entire government and every service it provides shuts down for the holiday. Most private businesses are closed.
For Jews and Muslims and other non Christians in Western democracies, it is a point of some pride and acceptance to have the government say out loud: “I know we aren’t shutting down services and I am not myself going to mosque or synagogue, but we want to recognize that this is important for you, and wish you well on this holiday”. For Christians to not understand this difference, is more of the same from a delusional “oppressed” majority.
