Racism is at the heart of birtherism, regardless of whether Donald Trump has the good relationship with “the blacks” that he claims.

Those of you who don’t see racism in Romney might want to contemplate his embrace of the Donald as well as his embrace of birther references.

You could make an argument that Gingrich, Santorum and Bachmann aren’t racist either. But they all pandered to that growing racist/xenophobic/Islamophobic element of their party. At a certain point, it no longer matters what a politician believes in his heart; it matters who he makes his appeals to and why.
