I don’t recall where I heard it, but there is a good line about why its so important to report animal abuse: “The guy who comes home and kicks the dog is probably going to find something bigger to kick eventually.” Or something like that.

Or, worse, smaller.

I actually knew, years ago, a woman whose abusive husband had shot their dog (German shepherd) first, then later tried to kill their son by shaking him.

He used to call her from prison to tell her she was a bad Christian and had broken her vows by divorcing him. Listening to her tell him off was quite satisfying, if only because it was all she could do.
