If only we had a good study on the matter. But we don’t, so we don’t really know how that plays out. All the existing studies have been done by advocates-From pro gun CATO to anti gun HCI. More loyal to the cause than the facts. But it’s really easy to find instances of car jacking stopped by a gun. I found a bunch where off duty cops intervened successfully. An off duty cop is pragmatically the same as a reasonably well trained CCW civilian.

Question is, why did this guy shoot unarmed people?

Those instances are good arguments to arm cops, but not to arm anyone else.
