Just from my time in that part of the valley (in the early-mid 60’s), there were a surprising number of immigrant communities there. Once, the squadron was on its way down-valley from Alameda to Lemoore. The bus convoy stopped at a general store, somewhere out in the farmland. Lo and behold, there were two carloads of (East) Indians leaving with their groceries. There was also an Armenian/Persian restaurant in Fresno — “The Iran”, I think.
