I live in Texas and it requires state ID and then a background check…can have gun in 10 minutes.

I know at Bass pro shop you can try out bows, and rods and reels …just wondered if they did that for guns….my main thing is I want a gun that is stronger than a .22 but not huge and cumbersome with a lot of recoil…it needs to be small enough to carry in purse.

Sounds like you’ll be wanting something like a 9mm or 38 cal. While I’d run toward automatics, your best bet would probably be a revolver of some sort for its mechanical simplicity and reliability. Some short nosed one (like in all the detective shows from years ago) will be small and light enough to fit in a purse.
