In honor of my father (name covered for privacy), who risked his life many times for others, while never carrying a weapon. He is buried at Arlington.
During his service in the military, he was twice awarded the Legion of Merit, the nation’s second highest service medal; the Air Force Commendation Medal and National Service Defense Medal.
For his service in the Vietnam War, he received the Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with five Campaign Stars, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal and the Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device and three Oak Leaf Clusters.
