re: #531 HappyWarrior

I think his college education resonated with a lot of college kids honestly but Bernie was greatly being overrated as a general election candidate and honetsly I hate the Bros who wanted to use hypothetical polling as a reason to nominate him even though they hate when “electability” is used against them. I prefer Clinton over Bernie for a simple reason, I thought she’d be a better President and be able to actually accomplish more progressive issues than he would since she’s much more savvy than he is politically. Bernie is a guy who in his own way is isolated just like he claims the party elites are.

Here’s the thing: From June to January, Bernie was focused on the issues and he was running a legitimately engaging campaign that was bringing attention to the problems in this country.

Then January and Iowa came and suddenly he dumped all that to start attacking Clinton for being less than pure and shredded a lot of the good will he’d built up. He could have turned his close loss there and his win in New Hampshire into momentum had he insisted on keeping to the issues, but he shifted gears to “I’m not Clinton” and dashed that. We knew what he wasn’t, we wanted to see him run on what he was. All he did by going after her “failures” was highlight his own.
