I’m not really a legal eagle, but that bill makes me nervous.

It looks all nice and reasonable, but it would make you renew your federal firearms license every 5 years, AND it appears that all your local licensing requirements would remain in place.

It’s named after a kid who was killed while protecting another kid from a shooter. Feel-good legislation that won’t actually do anything to stop illegal gun sales, but will criminalize behavior by the generally law-abiding.

The possibly good news is that the bill has no co-sponsors. But it’s been referred to the House judiciary committee - I suppose to see whether they think it would pass constitutional muster.

i don’t need a license to practice a right, anymore than i need a “free speach” license. you can only license a privlege, like driving, or practicing medicine or being a barber…..
