Hmm - it seems that Obama’s apparent pick to replace Souter is generating some heat already this morning!
I’ll just remind y’all of two things:
a) the Democratic Party Governs this Nation completely and whomever Obama picks is sure to win approval from the Senate and
b) Sotomayor seems well qualified for the postion, but according to what I’ve read is not a “consenus builder” (or at least wasn’t on the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals (covering mostly NYC) and if that’s true, her influence on the SCOTUS is going to be minimal.

And let’s not all forget that THE most Liberal (not LEFTIST - I don’t think there are more than oh, 10 or 15 genuine liberals left in the country!) Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was chosen by Ike because, while he was Govenor and Attorney General of California, he was the most CONSERVATIVE individual out there. How someone has ruled and what they’ve said BEFORE they put on the robes of a justice of the SCOTUS is not necessarily indicative of how he or she will vote as a Justice of the Supreme Court.
