I’m actually very worried about where this shooting is going to lead.

While Bernie himself has denounced it and every major figure on the left will do the same, is there anyone on the right who will try to calm the situation before some asshat takes it into his head to try for some retribution?

So many of the major voices on the right have been calling for violence already, figures who have been given credibility and respectability by POTUS who himself has more than flirted with calls to violence.

That’s where this will continue. We now have the first true instance of a ‘liberal gunman’ that I can recall. There will be retributive attacks - the cultists are already primed and have been for years. The control of all branches of government has not in any way dimmed the persecution complex that they are actively fed and encouraged in by their media. And someone will inevitably take action.

Of course, there are already countless examples of the far right committing mass violence and America carrying on as normal. So perhaps this will not be as dramatic a change as I think. But I think it continues the degeneration of the American republic that political violence will become normalised.
