I honestly don’t think Cantor is dumb enough to take the Speakership if handed to him. Maybe he would have a year ago, but the TP’s influence has grown exponentially since then, it seems. Cantor would end up looking every bit as ineffectual as Boehner in record time.

I think he’s perfectly content to lead the orchestra from second chair, while Boehner gets flogged by, well, everyone at this point.

The end game would be House Speaker Gohmert…
