Aha! Got to spend 5 wonderful years on the USNS Range Sentinel T-AGM 22 out of Cape Canaveral, Fl. I was an E-5 at the time, had been on DDs, FFs and having your own stateroom is just mad.

Interesting, know a fellow by the name of M. Sanhudo? I don’t think he sailed on the Range Sentinal, but he was on the USNS Vanguard and the USNS Waters down there in Cape Canaveral. He started out as a Refrigeration Engineer and ended up as a Third Assistant Engineer before those special mission ships got contracted to the Union Halls and the Civilian Mariner DOD employees were only put on the Auxiliary Fleet ships (Like my current one, USNS Kanawha T-AO 196)
